How can VELUX Modular Skylights help contribute towards the sustainability of your building?

VELUX Modular Skylights are designed to support the long-term strategy for your building, from efficient energy use to a healthy and productive environment. Even at the base specification, all of our skylights are produced with the changing nature of the environment in mind and come well equipped to tackle the best practices of tomorrow.

While organisations around the world are actively working to tackle climate change, it’s impossible to avoid the real-time climate changes we have already been experiencing. Recent years have brought increasingly heated seasons and it has therefore become crucial for businesses to plan for both the highs and lows of temperature change. Consequently, our modular skylights are designed to support both sides of the spectrum to give you a product which can support them all year round.

For thermal performance, VELUX Modular Skylights can be either double or triple glazed and designed with robustness in mind. This gives the double-glazed units an Uw value of 1.4 W/(m2 K) and the triple glazed units an Uw value of 1.0 W/(m2 K). These lower U values can offer considerable heat retention in the building and minimise building heating costs by simply optimising the control of heat already within the property.

To deal with warmer weather VELUX Modular Skylights can be integrated seamlessly with the ventilation strategy of your building design. Our modular system can include a combination of both fixed and openable skylights to give clients as much or as little flexibility as they require. Both the fixed and openable skylights appear visually identical, meaning clients can focus on the needs of their ventilation strategy and don’t need to worry over balancing aesthetic and functional value. VELUX Modular Skylights can also be specified to include factory-fitted roller blinds to control glare on sunny days. We also offer a selection of different glazing options to help divert or control rays into the building.

Openable units within the modular system utilise built-in motorised comfort ventilation and can open up to 410mm. This allows businesses to conveniently open a number of skylights across the roof of their property and enhance the movement of air through the building. In improving the air circulation, you can more effectively cool their building without dependency on other cooling technologies. In addition to this, building managers are also able to night-purge their building, thus cooling down the concrete during the night and getting it ready for the next day through improved flow of air.
